How to Authenticate a Birth or Death Certificate in Kenya

Authenticating a birth or death certificate is an essential process for many legal and official matters. Whether you need to verify these documents for personal use, employment, or any other reason, the procedure in Kenya is straightforward and user-friendly. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process.

Requirements

To ensure a smooth authentication process, ensure you have the following:

  • The original certificate and a copy of the certificate that requires authentication.
  • Your identification document.
  • A letter from the agency requesting verification.

Steps to Authenticate a Certificate

  1. Fill in the Online Application Form: Visit https://dcrs.ecitizen.go.ke/ and fill out the online application form. Provide accurate and complete information.

  3. Pay for Your Application: After uploading the documents, proceed to make the payment for your application. The fees vary depending on the type of agency (private or government) and whether the agency is Kenyan or foreign
  4. Present Proof of Payment: Finally, present proof of payment (either a receipt or an SMS) along with the required documents at the selected pick-up location

Service Fees

The cost of verifying a certificate depends on the agency type and location:
