How to change phone number And Email in ecitizen

Last year, the Kenyan government revamped eCitizen, integrating over 8,000 services into the country’s largest government website, ecitizen.go.ke. Accessing eCitizen services now requires a phone number or email address for security reasons.

Security Measures

eCitizen houses a wide range of personal information, from details about children and vehicles to companies and land ownership. To protect this sensitive data, eCitizen has implemented security measures such as:

  1. Password Protection: Your account is secured with a password.
  2. OTP Verification: Each time you log in, a One-Time Password (OTP) is sent to your registered phone number or email. This ensures that you authorize every login attempt.

Reasons for Changing Your Phone Number and Email on eCitizen

When you first registered on eCitizen, the system only required a user ID and password. With the introduction of OTPs and other security enhancements during last year’s integration, the phone number or email you originally registered with is now crucial for accessing your account. If you no longer have access to these, you’ll need to update them to continue using eCitizen services.

How to Change Your Phone Number and Email on eCitizen Without Logging in

Now, to update your Email Address and Phone number in Ecitizen, you can use one of three methods listed below;

Method 1: Visit Nyayo House

  • Go to Nyayo House and request to change your eCitizen phone number and email to your current ones. The process may take until the end of the same day, but your issue will be resolved.

Method 2: Contact eCitizen Support

  • Send an email to [email protected] requesting a change of phone number and email. The time it takes to resolve your issue will depend on the volume of email traffic.

Method 3: Facilitated Change Service

For Ksh 400, you can have your eCitizen phone number and email changed in less than 10 minutes. Follow these steps:

  1. Make a payment of Ksh 500 to till number 4201156.
  2. Forward the transaction message and a photo of both sides of your ID to WhatsApp number 0707637143.

Factors Affecting the Change Process

  1. The change cannot be made for users who have logged in within the last 30 days.
  2. The new phone number must be registered with the same ID used for the original registration.

By following these steps, you can ensure uninterrupted access to eCitizen services with your updated contact information.
