Imagine this: Your insurance broker has been providing you with insurance policies every month since you bought your car. Due to their persuasive nature, you pay, print, and stick these insurance covers on your car’s windscreen without verifying if they are Genuine. The reality is, like a logbook, a motor vehicle insurance cover can be altered. This is why an insurance cover is a confidential document that should be sent directly to the client’s email address.
But what about those sent through WhatsApp?
I can’t claim that every broker and dealer goes to the extent of editing insurance policies, but let’s be realistic. For example, a PSV third-party insurance for a minibus carrying 33 passengers costs Ksh 14,000. If you were in a broker’s shoes, it could be tempting to edit the insurance since it often costs less than 1,000. Areas most affected by such practices include Dandora and River Road, where brokers are prevalent.
While not every insurance cover is edited, to ensure you’re getting the value for your money and adequately covering your vehicle, you need to verify your cover.
In this article, we will show you two ways to verify if your insurance policy is Genuine.
